Okala Onuka Uche

ADEOkala Onuka Uche is a Lawyer with vast experience spanning infrastructure development and regulation; infrastructure project finance; public-private partnerships (PPP) options; privatization, commercialization, mergers and acquisitions; electric power sector reforms, power project documentation, Oil & Gas project finance; corporate management and finance and secured lending.

He holds a Bachelor of Laws degree (LL.B (Hons) from University of Lagos, and was admitted to Nigerian Bar in 2005 (B.L.). While in the University, Uche was a co-editor of the campus-based Magazine called The JuriScope.

In August 2014, Uche joined EEDC as an Assistant Manager, Legal & Regulatory Department and was later promoted to the position of Manager, Regulatory Affairs in February 2017. In March 2017, he was appointed as Acting Head, Regulatory Affairs Department and confirmed the substantive Head in May, 2018.

Prior to joining EEDC, Uche was the Head of Chambers of Benchmac & Ince, a full bouquet law firm with extensive expertise in Electric Power Transaction. While with the Chambers, he was part of the Legal and Regulatory advisory team to the Federal Government of Nigeria on the privatization of the Power Holding Company of Nigeria (PHCN) and its 17 successor companies as well as the privatization of ten power plants owned by the Niger Delta Power Holding Company Limited under the National Integrated Power Project (NIPP).

Uche is a member of various associations and working groups including the Nigeria Bar Association (NBA) and Market Rules Working Group of the Transmission Company of Nigeria.
