Okechukwu Okafor is a graduate of Engineering from the University of Benin. He started his career in 1991 as a Management Trainee at Academy Press PLC, Lagos and progressed to NSPM PLC (Nigerian Mint) in 1992 where he worked for 13 years managing complex Banknote manufacturing processes. In 2001 when the Nigerian Mint had challenges with its process Integrity, he led the team that designed complex Standard Operating Procedures for Banknote and Security document manufacturing in Lagos and Abuja factories - emerging the pioneer Head of Process Audit department, after certification by De La Rue UK in 2002.
In 2006, he veered into the Telecommunication sector, joining Globacom Nig. Limited as Head, Manufacturing (Personalization and Packaging), where he pioneered Value Card manufacturing. He received an Award for “Innovative Management” during the Glo 2007 Staff Recognition Award Night.
He joined EEDC in February 2018 as the Fleet Manager, introducing reforms that brought about improved accountability and efficiency in the logistics arm of the business. He was appointed to head the Administration department and also a Member of EEDC Management Procurement committee (MPC) in 2020. Subsequently, he was appointed the head of Procurement department in December, 2021 - A position he currently occupies.
He has attended Operations and Management development courses both in Nigeria and overseas. He holds Post Graduate Degrees in Management (PGD), Project Management (MBA), and Operations Research (MSC) from Universities of Calabar, Owerri, and Lagos respectively.
A fellow of Chartered Institute of Administration (CIA), an associate member of Nigerian Institute of Marketing (NIMN) and American Institute of Industrial Engineers.
