EEDC SIGNS MOU WITH ANAMBRA STATE GOVERNMENT

The Enugu Electricity Distribution Company PLC (EEDC) and the Government of Anambra State has signed a strategic partnership Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), aimed at providing energy security and extending universal electricity access for residents of Anambra State.

This collaboration which was sealed with an MOU signing ceremony presided by the Executive Governor of Anambra State, Prof. Charles Chukwuma Soludo, at the Government House, Awka, is in line with the state government's desire to provide dividends of democracy to the people of the state.

Delivering his remarks, the Managing Director/CEO, EEDC, Praveen Chorghade, described the event as a momentous one which will strengthen the business relationship between both parties and unlock opportunities for attracting additional investments to achieve increased reliability of power supply and commercial performance.

He went further to state that the partnership will not only improve service to customers, operational and commercial efficiencies, but will provide additional networks required to increase both reliability and quality of supply towards attaining a 24/7 supply.

Expressing his joy, the chairman, Chrome Group of companies and the Chairman, EEDC, Sir Dr. Emeka Offor said it was a special day for him, not just as the Chairman of EEDC, but as a true son of the soil. "I'm glad I'm able to contribute my quota towards the development of Anambra State", he said.

The Executive Governor, Anambra State, Prof Charles Soludo said the MOU signing ceremony is a critical building block on his administration's journey to have a livable and prosperous mega city for Ndi Anambra.

Referring to Sir Dr. Emeka Offor as a partner in the transformational agenda of Anambra State, Prof. Soludo reminded the good people of the state that the state is on a journey, transiting to an industrialized State, and that cannot be achieved without 24/7 power supply in place.

He enjoined indigenes of Anambra State to support his administration in delivering to them a homeland that they would want to stay, and not just a place to visit.

Others present at the event include some members of EEDC board of Directors, such as Distinguished Sen. Ken Nnamani and Barr. Kester Enwereonu, the Deputy Managing Director, Dr. Ernest Mupwaya, Company Secretary/Head, Legal, Barr. Anthony Achebe, Chief Technical Officer, Engr. Vincent Ekwekwu, Head Security, Mr. Frank Ejiofor, and the Head, Corporate Communications, Mr. Emeka Ezeh.
